October Features

Harvesting, Tidying, Planning

So long as the frosts delay, you may still be able to harvest crops such as beans, tomatoes and lettuce.

Remove all plant debris from the vegetable patch or allotment, to reduce the spread of disease and pests and burn all leaves and plants which look as though they may be diseased . Now's a good time to start a compost heap.

Order Seed Catalogues in late September so you can start thinking about planning your veg and herb beds, borders and plots for next year

If you're completely new to gardening, you may not have any gardening tools or equipment. We explain what you'll need from the bare necessities to optional extras.
